There comes a time when your generator will fail on you when you need it the most. And knowing how to fix some of the most common problems can save you in an emergency, especially if the blackout will last the entire night. Follow the below tips and learn to get you generator up and running.

WEN Generator Troubleshooting

Finding the main cause of the problem should be the priority when your WEN generator suddenly starts giving you problems. Knowing what steps to take to fix the generator becomes easier once the problem has been identified. Below, we will talk about some of the common problems.

The engine is refusing to start. An engine that fails to start could mean that the spark plugs need to be checked. Another problem could be the fuel filter or the carburetor. It could also simply be that the generator is out of fuel.

The generator is running, but no power is being outputted. When the WEN generator is running fine, but your devices and appliances aren’t receiving any power, there is a high chance the circuit has been tripped.

The engine keeps shutting down. A generator that keeps shutting off when it runs usually indicates a problem with the air filter. Other than it could mean the generator is out of gas, overloaded or the fuel filter is clogged.

WEN Generator DIY Repair

The problems mentioned above don’t require you to go all the way to a service center or to call a service repairman. You can fix them right at home after you have identified them. For the engine that refuses to start, you just need to make sure that the fuel tank has enough gas to run the generator or else the spark plugs need to be checked to ensure that they are properly connected. If it still doesn’t start, then the fuel filter and carburetor might need replacing. When no power is coming from the generator when it is on, you just need to close the circuit. Finally, if it keeps shutting down during operation, you just need to make sure that there is enough gas in the tank, the generator isn’t overloaded and that the fuel filter and air filter are cleaned or replaced.

I have a WEN 11000 Watt. Recently lost power for 4 days. The Generator ran fine until the last day and it bogged down due to spouse having too much on at one time. The gen died and now the electric start will not turn over. It will not do anything. It is as if the electric start is no being engaged at all. No sound, nothing. The battery is good.
